The Board for Medalist at PJ’s met. I’m not certain that it was the board, but the decision deadline was in front of them. Present were Andrea, Kevin, Duane (I’m sure they are Board members), Marcia from Vend Alaska (operator), and Joseph, Margaret & Dupes (members). Diving into the discussion, we tackled the matter at hand. There’s not enough money to buy every one a trip to Las Vegas. After going over how much money is available, the costs of airfare and the amount of players, here’s what was decided.

PJ’s Medalist League will reimburse $200.00 to the player. After proof of entry into the Medalist World Championships is confirmed. A group rate for airfare has been made at $540.00 per person; a minimum of 20 people is needed to secure this rate. It’s best to get this filled in as soon as possible, with airfare going up and gas prices the way they are, things won’t stay this good long. One more thing to keep in mind, if you receive the reimbursement and don’t fulfill your commitment to play, you will be banned from any reimbursement from the league for 2 years. This is new and long overdue in my opinion.

Pre-register is $50.00 a head and $20.00 per event / per person. These are the 7 events:

PJ's Medalist Board Meeting
5/5/08 6:00pm

I've heard all the rumors running around, and the grumblings that come with all the talk. Every one is looking for the answer to the "Are we going to Las Vegas" question. I know people don't like it when they don't get straight answers, but here's the situation. The Board (elected by the general membership 2 years ago?) needs to come up with an idea of what to do. The bottom line, the league doesn't have the $33,000.00 to send everyone. It's silly to think that the $2.00 we put in the envelope and the $3.00 that's supposed to come back from Medalist would pay for a trip. Airfare prices are on the rise along with gas costs. Trips to Las Vegas are around $600.00 a head and only looking to increase. The gaming money that usually helps fund the trips, is down very sharply, no where near the amount needed to fund trips. Now we can sit here and play the blame game, and say so and so said this and that, but the bottom picture is this, the Board needs to come up with a solution on how it's going to handle this ordeal.

This is where you fit in. Do you know who your Board is? I don't, I found out, but I don't remember electing any one. How long have they been in place, and are they active? Do you trust these people to make decisions for you if you don't know who they are or they haven't heard your voice on the matter? Well, here's our chance tonight. Though our vote won't count, well it shouldn't because it's not a general membership meeting, but we're allowed to sit in and discuss the matter. We get to see who does what and says what, and more importantly, how they vote. If these are our elected people representing us, we're entitled to all this. I hope to see you at the meeting, I know it's late notice, I'm sorry.

All the normal suspects on the rise and some new folks too. I'm glad to see improvement in the different divisions. With all the rising stars we'll see some intense games here in the near future.
